The exhibition delves into the existential backdrop of two cities, Berlin and Istanbul, exploring their relationship with us and transcending borders and cultures. It prompts contemplation about our identities, and aspirations within these connections and transitions, as well as the consequent impacts on us. Moreover, it delves into the broader theme of the Anthropocene era’s effects on humanity.

Questions arise: Do we truly belong anywhere? Must we be tied to a home or country? What is essential to our understanding of self? How can we reshape systems that threaten us? How did our profound isolation come to be? What events led to our current circumstances? The exhibition’s title draws inspiration from the poem of the same name by German poet Brecht. The poem explores the gradual and unpredictable nature of revolution, contrasting with our mundane routines. Change perpetually beckons. Our personal traumas and areas of focus mold the world around us; recognizing this is vital. Through this exhibition, we endeavor to mend our wounds, unite rather than isolate, and extend embrace to one another.

The exhibition delves into the resilience demonstrated by our bodies, skin, and senses throughout our journey of displacement, by taking visitors’ senses on a journey. Through our discussions surrounding the methods of expressing and sharing our intentions via this exhibition in Berlin, we directed our attention in on the question: ‘How can the audience actively participate in these intentions?’ The artworks, which shed light on the artist’s creative journey, are transformed into language, visual components, and auditory experiences, all of which captivate different senses. Just as an altar serves to anchor our daily life intentions, we strive to nurture each sense within that space.

In its essence, creating this space comes from a commitment beyond personal needs. It shows a strong belief in the power of shared experiences to heal, grow, and connect across distances. This exhibition stands as a testament to the remedial potency of unity, welcoming diverse participants to embark on a journey of restoration and interconnectedness. Through curatorial visits and sensory engagements, it extends an invitation to deeply savor the present moment, thereby fostering dialogues concerning the underlying concepts and artworks. The opening of this space not only meets individual needs but also shows a dedication to encouraging a broader conversation that involves and welcomes everyone.
